Use Microfiber

CLEANING TIPS - ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY CLEANING SUGGESTIONS FOR YOUR ENTIRE HOME

WINDOW:

Windows do normally not need any window cleaning chemicals in order to get clean. A Starfiber® microfiber cloth dampened in water will clean your windows better as when using chemicals and the Sunday paper.

For best results dampen half the cloth in water and leave the other half dry, first go over with the wet side and loosen the dried dirt on the window (don’t forget the borders) and then go over with the dry side for a fast streak free clean.

If the windows are very dirty, you can use some non-toxic dish washing detergent to loosen up the baked on dirt (hopefully not your windows)

For high or hard to reach windows use the AquaStar Window and Wall mop, designed to reach in the farthest corner and leave your windows clean and streak free in an effortless way, make sure to use the specially designed pads marked “Window Pad.”

BATHROOM:

Strong cleaning detergents are not needed in order to get a clean and fresh bathroom. It is enough to clean the toilet’s outer surface with a wet Starfiber® microfiber cloth, with some non-toxic soap if needed. For cleaning inside the toilet bowl; Mix 1/4 cup baking soda and 1 cup vinegar, pour into basin and let it set for a few minutes. Scrub with brush and rinse. A mixture of borax (2 parts) and lemon juice (one part) will also work. Lower the water level and pour vinegar directly on the lime scale deposits. That will take away the lime deposits. For extra tough deposits, use a pumiced stone.

The sink and the bath tub will get cleaned off with a wet Starfiber® microfiber cloth and non-toxic soft soap if needed. Soak the microfiber cloth and leave it on the area. You can take away spots of rust or deposits below the tap if you put some citric acid or vinegar on the cloth and then rub. Use the Starfiber® scrubber cloth as an alternative to the old tooth brush, to reach deep into the grooves of tiles and other hard to reach crevices.

Remember to dry off the shower cabinet, taps and tile directly after the shower when the dirt is loose. You will get the tile wall and the bathroom mirror clean with a Starfiber® cloth, or for the hard to reach ceiling corners use the Window and Wall mop and use the specially designed pads, marked “Wall pad.”

KITCHEN:

In the kitchen, where we prepare our food, bacteria grow best. Therefore clean your kitchen regularly. It is often enough to wipe off stainless steel surfaces like taps, stoves and refrigerators with a wet Starfiber® microfiber cloth. That will make the grease spots go away and will not leave any water lines. Use some soft soap or a non-toxic dish detergent if it is very dirty.

It is much easier to wash away food spills from the stove when it is warmed up. First, put all oven plates on low heat and wait a while before you turn them off and then dry off the oven space.

Clean the kitchen cabinets and the inside with a wet Starfiber® microfiber cloth. Use non-toxic soft soap if needed. Put shelf liners above the wall mounted kitchen cabinets and exchange them every now and then so you will not have to clean off dust and grease stains.

The microwave is easier to clean off if you first use a spray bottle and spray water inside the microwave, since this will loosen old dirt or splashes and then clean of with a damp Starfiber® microfiber cloth. Do not forget to use the Starfiber® Smart microfiber Duster behind the stove and under the refrigerator, this will save you and your family from dust and pollen that could get air borne by the opening of a kitchen window or door

BEDROOMS AND FAMILY ROOMS:

In order to get a clean and healthy environment in your bed- and family room, it is often enough to dry mop the floors on a regular basis with a Starfiber® microfiber mop. Wet mop once a week with water or a non-toxic floor cleaner, this will keep the dirt away and make your floor look great and last longer.

For the hard to reach areas such as under your bed and bed stands always use the Starfiber® Smart Duster which will reach everywhere and trap the dust and pet hair in its long electrostatic fur.

Dust cupboards, shelves and night stands both inside and outside on a regular basis. Dampen the cloth with water if needed. Even heaters and lamps should be dusted off, even Venetian blinds and roller blinds which also collects dust.

Vacuum curtains once in a while and give the sheets an airing as often as you can.

Sheets and all bedding should be washed in HOT water to kill mites.

MORE SUGGESTIONS:

  • Always use a designated Starfiber® microfiber cloth for the bathroom, this will eliminate cross contamination, or the spread of bacteria from one room to the other.
  • Clean the microfiber cloths on a regular basis; either quick boil them for 4 minute in a large pot or wash them in warm or hot cycle. Do not use fabric softener because that will take away the static effect as well as the cloth may leave a residue while cleaning windows.
  • Spots are easiest to take away when they are new. It often works with water and some dish washing detergent or citric acid, which is good for rust-, lime- and mould stains.
  • You can get rid of chewing gum deposits if you freeze them. Put a bag with ice on the spot or put the whole fabric in the freezer for a while. After that it will be easy to take off the chewing gum.
  • Stains on the wall can be erased with a white eraser.
  • Candle wax can be erased by putting kitchen paper towels or brown paper grocery bags both above and under the fabric before you iron it. The candle wax will then be sucked up from the kitchen paper towel.
  • To clean your jewelry, put them in a bowl of clean soft soap about an hour. Rinse them off in warm water and dry them with a Starfiber® microfiber cloth. Cleaning pearls is a little different, but not complicated. After you wear them just wipe them off with a Starfiber® microfiber chamois cloth, which may be dry or damp. This will prevent dirt from accumulating and keep perspiration, which is slightly acidic, from eating away at the pearl nacre.

Do not forget to have fun while you clean. Put on some good music; sing along, practice some dance moves and before you know it you are done!

Use the Dusterator dry to pickup:
dirt, pet hairs, dust balls, small crumbs, and micro particles.
